Buses, trains and hire cars
KTEL Attikis coaches leave from Liosion (Delphi) and Kifissos (Peloponnese) terminals — reach them by OASA bus or taxi from the centre (ktelattikis.gr, checked Aug 2026). Metro Line 1 runs to Piraeus port for Saronic ferries — ~25 minutes from Monastiraki. There is no passenger train to Delphi or Nafplio — coaches or rental cars cover those routes.
Meteora uses the Athens–Kalambaka train — allow ~4.5 h each way; many visitors book an overnight near Kalambaka instead of a same-day return. Hire cars unlock Mycenae and Sounion detours but add parking stress in Piraeus — compare against KTEL when you do not need flexibility.
If you only have half a day
